More than 300 guests enjoyed an evening of socializing and entertainment at the BWH Spring Gala and Wine Auction at the Four Seasons Hotel on Thursday, May 29. The black-tie event, hosted by the Friends of Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), featured silent and live auctions and a gourmet dinner and wine tasting, amidst the backdrop of great music. The Gala raised approximately $140,000 to support the mission of the Friends organization.
“One of our special projects is to raise money to help children with epilepsy attend camps supervised by BWH caregivers,” said Eugenia Friedlander, president, Friends of BWH. “It is amazing to see the smiles and joy that this experience brings to the children and the families.”
Richard Elia, a featured auctioneer, wine expert, and publisher of The Quarterly Review of Wines for more than 26 years, led the live auction, which included almost 50 lots of wine from all over the world, among other great items.
Honorary co-chairs for the event were Eileen and Jack M. Connors Jr., Michele and Howard J. Kessler, Katharine Wolf, MD and Marshall Wolf, MD, and Rhonda and Michael J. Zinner, MD. Beth and Carmine Martignetti generously donated to the event and were “Grand Cru Sponsors” as well.
“We look forward to using the funds raised through this year’s event to enrich the lives of patients and families at Brigham and Women’s Hospital,” added Friedlander.
Through this, and other, fundraising efforts, the Friends of BWH will be able to continue its tradition of support to help enhance overall patient care and services, medical research, and the training of health care professionals at the hospital.
